Introducing 'Making Money Matter'

A group of diverse characters

21 February 2018

Many of the people helped by the Charity are facing financial challenges. Those who were "just getting by" are now finding it hard to cope with paying for essentials.

Financial Capability is about enabling you to make informed decisions about your money and finances. It’s designed to provide you with the tools needed to improve your financial wellbeing, both now and in the future.

That’s why we have produced Making Money Matter – our animated film and online toolkit, supported by our partners at The Civil Service Insurance Society.

The online toolkit

We have developed an interactive toolkit, where the content is split into chapters that users can access at any time and in any order. Each chapter includes snippets of the animated film, information, links and downloads, that are offered in partnership with the Money Advice Service.

The film

Volunteers and interested parties from across the Civil Service community will be able to request a link to the film that they can show at events in their workplace. When they do, they will also receive additional collateral for everyone attending that will include;

  • a short questionnaire to check their understanding of financial capability, before and after watching the film
  • a ‘z-card’ style handout, encouraging them to go online and try the new toolkit, and on the reverse, a list of handy organisations and partners relevant to financial capability
  • a take-home branded money box, to encourage attendees to start saving

We hope that this new content and way of working will help us reach more people and have a real impact on how well people manage their money.

If you are in financial trouble and can’t see a way out, we are here to help you. Our trained advisors will be able to offer you confidential and impartial advice and support.
