Carer's Passport

This is our initiative to help current civil servants with specific caring responsibilities, enabling them to be supported at work as a result of the care they provide with confidence.

Why Are Carer's Passports Needed?

We estimate that there could be as many as 30,000 civil servants who juggle their caring responsibilities with their jobs and more and more of them are approaching us for help with their caring duties.

What does a Carer's Passport do?

The Passport provides carers, and their line managers, with information about how the individual's responsibilities impact their work. It includes any solutions agreed between the carer and his or her line manager, for example, more flexible working hours.

Carer's Passport will ideally stay with the employee should he or she be transferred within their department or across the civil service. It is available to any new line manager so they are aware of the employee's caring role and any solutions agreed.
